Global Pet Foods Airdrie- Our Story

For many of us, pets are like family members.  We became pet parents to our first Golden Retriever, Samson, less than a year after our infant adoption journey abruptly ended in heartbreak.  For the next 7 years, Samson was our only “child.”

Our pets give back to us, more than we can ever give back to them, and Samson taught us so many life lessons.  He showed us what unconditional love looks like, how to really enjoy every moment of life, how to truly forgive, and the importance of deep and lasting relationships.  We, in turn wanted to give back to him by giving him the best possible care.  We took him for many walks and other adventures, and he enjoyed every minute of these.  We also wanted to give him the best dog foods, treats and supplements, to promote a long and healthy life. That’s why we decided to open Global Pet Foods Airdrie.

Over the almost 10 years that he was with us, our pet knowledge continued to evolve. We made changes to his nutrition and supplements, as we learned more about best care practices for pets.  When he was 6 years old, he suffered a partially torn cruciate ligament, and we were told that surgery was the only option.  However, we wanted to make sure that we were making the best choice for him, and we researched alternative options.  In the end, surgery was avoided. With the help of acupuncture and various supplements, we got the old Samson back, full of energy and with an actual bounce in his step!  It was amazing to see!

Our own personal pet journey continued with our second Golden Retriever, Mika, who was with us for a short 7 ½ years, and now Tayah, our third Golden Retriever puppy!  We continue to learn new things through our journey with her, and with you, our customers, who graciously share your stories with us.  And that is why we do what we do.  We love to hear your stories, your struggles, your successes, and to problem solve with you to find the right solution for your pets.  Unfortunately, our pets seem to be dealing with so many more health problems these days – diabetes, cancer, pancreatitis, kidney issues, food intolerances/allergies…  and sometimes it’s so overwhelming to look at the options and determine the right nutritional course of action.  We want to help you navigate the pathways, to determine the “just right” option for your pet. After all, our homes would not be the same without our furry family members.

By the way, we did adopt again.  We flew to Thailand in 2008 and came home with our 2 year old son, Kaden.  He is now 14, and is enjoying life with our new puppy, Tayah!

To your pet’s health,

James
